GUNSLINGER WESTERN COLLECTION

A really wonderful find at – of all places – a local Shop ‘N Save. I guess these stores happen to be courts of last resort to sell “bargain” DVDs.

This set comes in one of those wonderful rounded collectible tins. Nice, impressive packaging. As this is a newer acquisition for me, I haven’t yet seen anything more than just the first few minutes of IF YOU MEET SARTANA, PRAY FOR YOUR DEATH. Always happy to add to my library of Spaghetti Westerns.

The other movies contained in this collection are:

RUN, MAN, RUN
THE STRANGERS GUNDOWN
I AM SARTANA, TRADE YOUR GUNS FOR A COFFIN (gotta love a title like that)
BLINDMAN (co-starring Ringo Starr as a bandido)
KEOMA
FOUR OF THE APOCALYPSE
AND GOD SAID TO CAIN
THE FIGHTING FIST OF SHANGHAI JOE (Ok, this one must be a “Sushi Western”!)
WHITE COMANCHE

In fact, WHITE COMANCHE isn't considered to be a Spaghetti Western because it was not made in Europe. It was a very early vehicle for William Shatner, but they just probably needed some public domain western to fill out the collection here.

The common denominator here, in a least 4 of these movies, is Klaus Kinski. He did quite a number of these type films in Europe and has even had some success here in America. He can play a psychopath with the best of them.

If you like’em fast, gritty and completely unbelievable, you could do worse than to get this set.
